Brazilian born and London based Carolina Mizrahi is a graduate of London College of Fashion. Her 'Avatars' series used her signature intense colour blocking of pinks to highlight and challenge the representation of women in the media and advertising.
"I was particualrly interested in creating a really imposing colour scheme which would induce viewers to question the artwork. We don't really realise how many things are socially imposed on us on an hourly basis. Why pink is a colour associated with the female gender?!"
Since graduating, Mizrahi has exhibited in group shows in London and Stockholm as well as having a solo exhibition at Bay Gallery Home. Her work has been featured in several publications and articles including Aesthetica Magazine, Fahrenheit, Another Magazine, Vogue Italy, Vogue Portugal and Vogue Brazil. Her work has also been collected by the University of the Arts London for their personal collection and archive.
