Born in the United States, Denise Davis originally studied fashion design in New York City and life drawing in London, becoming a professional life model in the early 1990's during her studies in drawing and painting. Davis began her professional career in '98 as she began to work regularly in the studio drawing, painting and writing.

Her stylised figures - Nurtured by a training in fashion illustration.  I shamefully used Bacon and other influences which I incorporated into dark settings inspired by religious iconography and familiar bible stories.

The pieces force a genre of paintings rarely associated with life and death to portray vanitas imagery, but with a conceptual slant.

Pain, pleasure and general discomfort can be felt through these figurative pieces, whilst some remain pure and simple life model studies.

Her observational works convey the harsh reality of death, decay and the brief period where everything organic sustains life.

Denise Davis has work in private collections in Britain, Ireland, France, Australia, and America. She has work in corporate collections in Britain and the U.S.A.
