Hi Kirsty, to kick off exercise one, where are you and how has your process changed since staying at home?
My studio is in my home, so I am lucky to still have a great workspace. Concentration has been a problem, if I’m honest, trying to process what’s happening (and with children home from school). But when I do finally get into the zone, drawing is a solace and a replenishment.
Last or current song you listened to (no cheating, we all have naughty comforts)?
and the last or current show/film/video you watched ?
Spirited Away
What are you reading right now?
The Argonauts by Maggie Nelson
What's the last thing you cooked? (recipes welcome!)
Chocolate orange brownie as a birthday cake!
What's the next thing you are going to cook?
Venison meatballs
If everything in your house was going to be the same colour what colour would you choose?
RED or PINK or BLUE or GOLD
Boomsauce
Do you have any superstitions?
Touch wood (touch something wooden, touch your head) I don’t really believe it but I do it.
What makes you laugh (feel free to share any videos, memes, record a joke, your pet)
My slightly tubby and glamourous cat, Derek, trying to make a jump (he tried to get into a hammock the other day) and failing. Cats are supposed to be graceful but he’s a like a middle-aged gangster in a velour tracksuit.
Which artist-living or dead would you like to share your quarantine practice with? Why?
Nan Goldin - to have my family’s weirdness documented
Exercise 2
Write a drawing prompt you would like someone else to receive:
Indulge yourself to do a really UNCOOL drawing, whatever that means to you. Be a geek.
We are probably going to get through a lot of these homework sheets - so write a question for other people that you want to know the answer to ?
What are your studio rituals?
We are putting together a mixtape - what’s your go to song for dancing ?
being in the studio ?
Before I Move Off - Mount Kimbie
chilling out ?
falling in love ?
Anyone who knows What Love Is - Irma Thomas
