Carl Longworth

British sculptor Carl Longworth has become well known for his exceptional talent in creating bronze sculpture. His impeccable skill in capturing the essence and vitality of the animals he sculpts has seen him become one of the most sought after young artists working in this field.

Originally from Cheltenham, Gloucester, Carl developed an early interest in figurative forms. His interest focuses on animals, particularly birds. He finds a wealth of inspiration in the local widllife of the Peak District where he now lives and works.

Seeking to capture the essence, personality and character of each animal through skillful observation and using the 'lost wax' process, Carl then casts in bronze, enhancing each piece with a unique patina.

Each piece is unique and will take between four months and a year or so to complete, and he will work on several sculptures at the same time as they move through the various stages of casting. The finished work possesses a beautiful permanence which contrasts with the fragility and ephemeral nature of the subject matter.

Carl has exhibited extensively in the UK over the past five years and his work has been shown at a vast number of antique and fine art fairs around the country including; Birmingham, Buxton, Olympia, Scone Palace and the RHS Chelsea Flower Show.

His sculptures are held in public and private collections throughout the UK and abroad.
